5 Bible Verses For Moms To Memorize

June 17, 2022

Scripture memorization is an important spiritual discipline. As moms we can’t always keep our bible open and in front of us all day. During a hard day we may not have time to go look up a verse for encouragement. When we memorize scripture we’re able to recall it in times of need. When you’re dealing with toddler melt-downs you can remember Galatians 6:9. If you’re exhausted from sleepless nights you can call to mind Isaiah 40:31. Without any further delay, here are 5 Bible verses for Moms to memorize:

Isaiah 40:31

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Whether you are a stay at home mom, or a working mom, you’ve probably faced sleepless nights, hard days, an ever growing to-do list. Exhaustion and weariness just seem to be the new description of who you are. This verse is a promise that if we put our hope in God, he will be there to lift us up and give us the strength we need to keep going. Ultimately motherhood is kingdom work. God can and will give us the strength we need to do this kingdom work called motherhood.

Matthew 7:7-8

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks received, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8 (ESV)

These classic verses from the sermon on the mount are found everywhere, especially in the Word Of Faith movement. But what is this passage saying? In the next few verses Jesus brings up the analogy of parenting. If our child asks for food, we’re not going to give them something that could harm them. In the same way when we ask God for something, His answer is always His best for us. These verses remind us that God is a caring Father looking out for all our needs. We can trust Him.

I love the promise here. Our asking, seeking, and knocking will never come back with nothing. God is not playing some cosmic game of hide and seek. He promises to be found (see also Jeremiah 29:12-14) and he promises to answer. This is a great Bible verse for mom’s to memorize because it reminds us to seek God for what we need (even our daily bread, Matthew 6:11) and trust that He cares for us in His answer.

Hebrews 12:1-2

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:1-2 (NIV)

As a mom of 5 young children, my focus is often pulled in multiple directions. Sometimes I welcome these multi-tasking moments. Other times it makes me want to pull my hair out (like when the baby is nursing, the two year old is getting into the fish food – a noble attempt to be responsible for something – and the 5 year old is fighting with his brother).

When life gets crazy we tend to lose our focus of what matters most. Too easily we focus on the dishes that keep piling up in the sink, the laundry waiting to be folded, the bad attitudes (sometimes the kid’s attitudes, but more often my own) etc. But Hebrews 12:1-2 calls us to put our focus back on the thing (or the one) who matters most.

I find that when set everything aside and fix my eyes on Jesus, I’m in for a smoother ride. Because fixing our eyes on Jesus gives us perspective for every other area of life. Only two more Bible verses for moms to memorize in this post!

Galatians 6:9

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9 (ESV)

The harvest is coming… but it’s not here yet. As parents we are planting seeds of faith in our children. We cultivate the soil of their heart, helping to remove rocks and stones to make their lives a more fertile ground for the gospel. The harvest, that’s the easy part – and also usually remarkably short in comparison to the season of cultivation and planting. It’s easy as a parent to rush the process of discipling our children, but we must remind ourselves to be patient and keep working one step and one day at a time. We will reap the benefit if we do not quit. All the work you put into your child’s younger years will be beneficial as they grow. Don’t give up mama!

Sometimes we need to remind ourself that what we are doing as mothers has little to do with the season, the day, or even the moment we find ourselves it. We’re not raising children for today only. We are raising the adults of tomorrow. Keep the future in mind as you disciple your children today.

Psalm 139:16

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.”

Psalm 139:16

My favorite part of this verse is the reminder that God is writing our stories (motherhood included). God saw you long before your first heartbeat. He knew you would have the children you have, and the timing you would have them. Even if your children are not biologically yours, God knew you would have them in your care. We can take comfort in the fact that the creator who knows us better than ourselves is the one who is writing our story.

Motherhood is just a piece of the amazing story God is writing for you. Even when motherhood is hard. Even in those trying toddler seasons or testy teenage years. God created your child for you and you for your child. God has entrusted us with these little disciples because he knew that as we lean on His strength, ask him for help, fix our eyes on Jesus, and refuse to give up that we would be the best parent for our child. You were made for this!

"I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill yo "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13 (NLT)
Praying that God would help us fix our eyes on him Praying that God would help us fix our eyes on him this week, that we wouldn't turn to the right or to the left; that we would not be tempted to turn back. Rather with our eyes fixed on him we would run into all he has for us this week.

Are you praying with me? Let me know in the comments.
I've been listening to a seminary class on the boo I've been listening to a seminary class on the book of Revelation that Robert Mulholland taught before he passed away. I started to listen as one of several ways I was preparing to walk my youth group students through the book of Revelation (their request), but this week, as he was talking about Revelation 8, this quote just hit me. I went back multiple times to make sure I could write it out correctly.

It is challenging and filled with truth.

May we be people who pray with our hearts and our lives abandoned to the things of God - so he can come and have his way in us and through us.
I heard Jeanne Mayo say this weekend, "short praye I heard Jeanne Mayo say this weekend, "short prayers reach the throne room when we don't live far away." In other words Saturday close to the throne room, pray without ceasing.

Will you join me in prayer today?
Don't burn bridges, build them. Don't burn bridges, build them.
So many things in this life will distract us and e So many things in this life will distract us and entangle us from running the race God has given us.

From to-do lists, to dreams and hopes, discontentment, economic hardship, and yes even elections. But this prayer has been my prayer for years and will be my prayer long after this week. Because I don't know about you, but I want to fix my eyes on Jesus and run the race HE has called me to run.

It doesn't matter what people will say.
It doesn't matter what comes my way.
It doesn't matter what tomorrow holds
Winds may come and a house of cards will fold.

But my God is my focus
His heart is my cry.
So I'll keep looking to Him
And run the race He called mine.
Growing up I always saw today on the calendar and Growing up I always saw today on the calendar and wondered what All Saints Day was. I guess I just assumed it was something that Catholics celebrated and didn't have any significance on protestants. So, let's talk about it.

All Saints Day was originally set to remember the Martyrs of the early church. It was a day to remember and be thankful for those who gave their lives to carry on the gospel's message and thus serve as a reminder of Jesus' sacrifice for us. So on All Saints Day we remember those throughout history who are a testimony of the grace, love, and power of God through Christ's sacrifice.

Later in Church history, All Saints Day shifted to include ALL the saints (everyone who has faith in Jesus). During the reformation, All Saints Day became a reminder of the unity of the church and our need for fellowship with one another. Discipleship is at the forefront of this holiday as we typically remember those who have had an impact on our lives in Christ - whether dead or alive.

How To Celebrate All Saints Day:
- Learn about historic Martyrs
- Read Hebrews 11
- Gather with other believers
- Consider how you can pursue unity with believers
- Thank someone who has poured into your life and faith.
- Eat donuts! yes, you heard that right. The unbroken outer circle of the donut is a reminder of Christian Unity while the hole in the center is a reminder of eternity, it is a reminder that Jesus is coming back for his bride to make us fully complete in Him when we celebrate a new heaven and a new earth.

How will you celebrate All Saints Day?
Why does it feel like some days we are living in a Why does it feel like some days we are living in a scorched and desolate place? We desperately need refreshing, but everything we look at is empty or dried out.

It's because we were never meant to be satisfied with those things? We were meant to be satisfied in Christ alone. and scripture likens Christ to living water that springs up within us, giving life in every season.

"And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail." Isaiah 58:11
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation..." (1 Peter 2:9)

"You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God..." (Revelation 5:10)
Learning to trust God is hard! I still remember Learning to trust God is hard!

I still remember the last conversation I had with my grandmother before she passed away. She said, "I'm still learning to trust God with my life." She was the most godly woman I have ever known, but she knew that there was always room to trust God more. When she didn't understand what God was doing or why something was happening in her life it was an opportunity for her to dig deeper into her faith; to learn to trust God more than she ever had before.

That's the kind of faith I want. A faith that even when I experience doubt, my heart chooses to trust deeper. A faith that knows I will always be learning this lesson and won't ever arrive at perfection but chooses to keep learning to trust God through every season. That's the faith that plants your life next to the river of God's grace and mercy because that faith knows that true life is the river flowing from the heart of God.
