Have you ever wondered how to help your kids understand and share the story of Easter in a fun and creative way? Look no further than this creative DIY booklet for kids!
I remember learning how to make these booklets when I was a little girl in elementary school. I wish I knew who originally had this idea so I could give credit where credit is due, but that was at least 20 years ago. These “lift the flap” books are incredibly easy and simple to make even your toddlers can get in on it (though you’ll have to give them a hand. Once you make these for Easter have fun and see what else you can use this DIY booklet idea for.
What you’ll need:
- This Free Easter Booklet Template, or blank paper
- One piece of colored/construction paper (for the cover
- Scissors
- Glue
- Colored pencils, pens, markers, crayons, etc.
How to Make Your DIY Booklet:
Step 1:
Fold each of the white pages in half along the dashed fold line.
Step 2:
Cut along the dotted cut line. don’t cut through both sides of the paper (you should only be cutting from the edge of the paper to the center.
Next, fold the page in half again so it’s folded in quarters with the cut line on the inside. This is 2 pages of your book. repeat with the remaining pages.
Step 3:
Glue the pages together. Make sure the fold lines are on the same side and that your pages (if using the template) are in order. Nothing is worse than gluing it all together and finding that you mixed up the order – take it from my personal experience.
Step 4:
Cut your colored piece of paper or construction paper in half and glue it to the outside of your booklet to form the cover.
Step 5:
Write a title on the cover. Then have your children color pictures of each part of the story on the inside pages. Under each flap have your children write a sentence to remember what happened in the story.
