Your kids will love using this DIY ribbon wand as they worship either at home or at church! So grab your supplies and get ready for fun-filled worship!
I originally made these DIY ribbon wands to put in our “worship bags” for church. These worship bags had a handful of supplies like coloring pages and ribbon wands to help kids engage with the worship service when they werent in Sunday School.
These were such a fun way for kids to engage in worship with adults and learn to praise the Lord! My kids loved them so much that I had to make more to keep at home.
What You’ll Need:
- 3/8 inch wooden dowels
- # 216 eye hooks
- ribbon (cut in 24-30 inch strips)
- Hot glue or needle & thread
- lighter/clear nail polish/Fray Check
- Drill with 1/16th drill bit
How To Make a DIY Ribbon Wand:
1. Pre-drill a hole in one end of your dowel using a 1/16th drill bit. You may be able to skip this step, but it does make it a thousand times easier to insert the eye hook into the end of your ribbon wand.
2. Screw the eye hook to the pre-drilled hole.
3. Bunch precut ribbon together and thread through the eye hook and pull until the center of the ribbon is at the eye hook.
4. Secure the ribbon with one of the following:
- a knot tied by the eye hook
- a small stitch through all the ribbon with a needle & thread
- hot gluing the ribbon to itself
5. At this point you’ll want to trim the ends of the ribbon so they are all the same length.
6. To keep the ends of the ribbon from unraveling either melt the ends with a lighter OR for a safer option, paint the ends of your ribbon with clear nail polish or Fray Check.
Let your child enjoy their ribbon wand! Put on some worship music and praise the Lord through dancing!
